So TDC the Danish telecoms monopoly screwed me around and I’m without adsl for 10 days. I’ve just moved and they can’t get it set up at the switch until the installer comes back from vacation or some other annoying excuse.
3G to the rescue. I have Nokia 6630 phone, which I’ve connected to my Powerbook via Bluetooth. It works fairly well and I get reasonably fast speeds, although I’m not sure of exact speeds. I do loose connection occasionally, so it’s not that reliable.
Go to Ross Barkman’s site to download dial up scripts for 3G. Remember to do this before you desperately need it. Unpack the 3G scripts to “/Library/Modem Scripts”.
With 3 the Danish 3G provider I used data.3.dk as the telephone number and no account nor password.
